Audi TT

The Audi TT is a sports model featuring two types of chassis: a stylish 2+2 Coupe and a two door, two-seat Roadster.

The Audi team began production on the TT in 1998. Like many in its line, the TT was produced in two generations and feature Audi's renowned Quattro four wheel drive system, as well as a front wheel drive option.

The very first Audi TT made its debut in 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept car. The name was taken from the British Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle race; a race in which NSU (part of the merged company known as Audi) competed in for many years.

From 1998 through 2006, the Audi TT 8N series was the most popular and generated high production and sales rates; with a coupe being released in 1998 and a roadster in 1999. However, in 2005, the TT was released in a limited edition Quattro sports edition. Only 800 of those were sold in the UK, insuring its classic status in years to come.

Today, a second hand Audi TT is seen by many as a serious fashion accessory, therefore costs can remain quite expensive. With its concept car design, legendary Quattro four wheel drive system and good reliability record, value is successfully maintained even in used models.

In terms of handling, the Audi TT is considered to be more of a touring class than hard core sports car, but the VW Golf chassis and 4WD have been successful in handling most road conditions.
