BMW X6

The mid sized luxury crossover BMW X6 first debuted in 2008. The new BMW X6 cars were first marketed by BMW as sports activity coupes. This was because they combined aspects of an SUV with aspects of a coupe. Namely, while the cars have the high ground clearance, all wheel drive and all weather ability of SUVs, BMW X6 cars also have the styling, especially in the dramatic sloping roof, of coupes.

The concept model of the car was first shown in 2007 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Officially, however, the actual production X6 that would launch BMW X6 sales was not shown off until 2008 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and at the Montreal International Auto Show. The car improved on the earlier BMW X5. It is both longer and wider than the X5 and much lower to the ground. This first version of the car could only seat 4 people, though later improvements have expanded the seating capacity to 5 people.

The BMW X6 M came out in 2009. It is an all wheel drive vehicle that was debuted at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The car is a high performance vehicle with a twin scroll twin turbo version of the V8 engine. This engine features cylinder-bank comprehensive manifold. It also has a 6 speed automatic transmission and pull style paddles on the steering wheel. The sporty vehicle had 20-inch alloy wheels and special grills in the front bumper. It can hit speeds of 97 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. A hybrid version is also available. Nearly new BMW X6 cars have been used in motor sports as well, including at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar.
