Mercedes-Benz B Class

The B-Class Mercedes is a small family car introduced in 2005 and similar to the A-Class. While the A-Class is a small multi-purpose vehicle, the B-Class is larger and therefore a more comfortable family car. Compared with most of Mercedes' other vehicles, it concentrates on practicality rather than design; for example, although it is a small car it is still spacious inside due to its height.

Second-hand Mercedes-B Class cars may be found with two optional extras, Easy-Vario and Easy-Vario Plus, which allow the rear seats of the B-Class to fold down. This makes the car suitable for transporting a large cargo, but it is primarily designed for carrying families and incorporates many features to enhance passenger comfort. For example, there is an optional advanced Thermotronic system that detects and adjusts temperature and humidity, and a sunroof that is divided into several panels and can be adjusted independently to allow light or shade on individual passengers.

An important safety feature of Mercedes-Benz B-Class cars is a 'sandwich' floor concept, which allows the engine to move beneath the passenger seating in the event of a frontal high-impact crash, reducing injury. Other safety features include an adaptive function on seatbelts, to allow them to adjust according the force exerted on them, active head restraints that respond during collisions and brake technology that acts to prevent skidding as well as detecting and enhancing emergency braking.

Mercedes Benz B-Class sales have been very high in Europe since its release and it is easy to see why. While many of Mercedes' vehicles are luxurious and stylish they can lack practicality, and cannot seat a family and lots of luggage comfortably. The B-Class is different because it is designed with families and practicality in mind. Furthermore, the B-Class is pioneering in its 'sandwich' floor concept, a safety feature that could not have been developed in Mercedes' traditional saloon cars.
