Nissan Micra

The Micra is an iconic vehicle produced by the Japanese car company Nissan, and has been in production since 1982. It was created to rival the popular Honda City 'super mini', and since its introduction into the UK market, Nissan Micra sales have remained consistently high.

Models produced in the 1980s saw attempts by Nissan to appeal to the low budget, high performance market, with 1 litre turbo Nissan Micras being introduced as the SuperTurbo model in 1989. This holds the record as the fastest Micra ever made, and had stats of being able to go from 0 to 60 mph in seven seconds, and a quarter mile in just over 15 seconds. The brand became known not for top performance but rather top reliability, and received high praise for reliability from the German organisation ADAC in the mid 1990s.

Micras produced between 1992 and 2003 were called the K11, and included airbags, as well as redesigned and enhanced bodywork which improved the safety of the vehicle considerably. Air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, electric windows and other options became available as optional extras. Micra K11s are still seen on the roads today, and are a testament to the reliability of the vehicle.

The third generation Nissan Micra was unveiled in 2002 in Japan, and brought to market in Europe in late 2002. The exterior bodywork was brought up to date and featured bolder curves and subtle scalloping; the interior was also made larger. Similar changes were made in 2007 and 2010, ensuring that Nissan Micra cars kept up with current industry trends. Nearly new Nissan Micras offer totally up to date styling.

The Micra has established itself over more than two decades as a leader in the small car market, and its continued presence on the roads of Britain is proof of its legendary reliability.
