Porsche Cayenne

The Cayenne is a five-seat, mid-size luxury crossover produced by the German manufacturer Porsche. It was first released in 2002, when its design was developed alongside the Audi Q7 and the Volkswagen Touareg. It was initially designed at a time when Porsche had decided it needed to extend and diversify its range, offering a car with a much wider appeal. When the model was first revealed, the concept was received with mixed reviews. Nevertheless, it was soon praised as being one of the best SUV cars on the market, being specifically commended for its exceptional handling and great engine power.

The first model was released with a 3.2 litre engine, boasting a powerful 250bhp. Within a year of its launch, 'Business Week' reported that Porsche Cayenne sales had helped the company pay off a large debt, and allowed the realisation of an excellent profit. When Porsche released its second-generation model, all of its engines were fitted with direct injection technology, which increased their driving power. In 2010 the third generation of Porsche Cayenne cars were revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. This model displayed a smaller body, which was almost 250 kilograms lighter than its earlier counterpart, thus making this model even more fuel-efficient. In addition the Porsche designers gave the Cayenne a much sleeker shape, bringing its style more in line with the rest of the range.

The Cayenne was awarded the 'Golden Steering Wheel 2010'.This is an accolade that is based on the votes of over 40 million readers of car magazines across Europe. This award is just one of a long line of achievements for the Cayenne acknowledging its market success across the globe. Of course new versions of this car are desirable, but a nearly new Porsche Cayenne is also in high demand worldwide.
