Skoda Octavia

Skoda Octavia cars are manufactured by the Czech Republic auto manufacturer Skoda Auto and are manufactured in a 5-door liftback or station wagon model. The vehicle has been in production since 1996 and its name was a revival of the vehicle that was originally manufactured from 1959 to 1971. It is a smaller family car that has spanned two generations with a third planned for the latter part of 2011 or sometime in early 2012. It is manufactured on a platform that is similar to the Volkswagen Golf GTI except for the fact that it is considered a better vehicle.

The first generation Mk1 Type 1U was manufactured from 1996 until 2010 and featured 14 engines along with a 4-speed automatic, a 5-speed manual, and a 6-speed manual transmission. The second generation Mk2 Type 1Z has been in production since 2004. There is more variety with the engines that are offered (3 diesel and 10 petrol) and a choice of five transmissions (5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, Direct Shift Gearbox, and manual versions, and a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox version). This versatility most likely explains why the Skoda Octavia sales have been as solid as they are, whether we are discussing new models or a secondhand Skoda Octavia.

The Skoda Octavia has achieved some very noticeable recognition including from Top Gear' the British automobile magazine as well as the radio and TV show. They described the first generation vehicle as a 'masterpiece of dependability'. Additionally 'Auto Express' the British auto magazine awarded the second generation the Driver Power Top 100's gold medal (2007) and stated that it was the most satisfying vehicle that you could own in the UK by bettering every other vehicle that has recently been sold in the country and quite possibly the entire European continent.'
