Vauxhall Corsa

The Vauxhall Corsa is one of the most instantly recognisable cars on the UK market, with over 1.3 million being sold since its launch in 1993. The 'supermini' has historically been sold under numerous brands and variants; including the Vauxhall Nova, Chevrolet Chevy and Holden Barina and continues to be one of the most iconic models around.

The first Corsa was unveiled to the British public in 1993, but the model does in fact have its origins in the early 1980s, when it was produced under a different name. Vauxhall Corsa cars were originally marketed as the Vauxhall Nova in the UK and would keep the name until the Corsa B model was launched in 1993. The Opel Corsa A was launched in the September of '82 to replace its predecessor, the Opel Kadett C City. Hailed as an immediate success, the Corsa A was offered in a range of models, from compact three-door hatchbacks to 1.6L four-door saloons. However, during the late eighties the model began to face stiff competition from the newly emerging Ford Fiesta and Peugeot 106.

The car was re-launched in 1993 and was finally known as the Vauxhall Corsa in the UK. This newer model is aesthetically similar to the Corsa of today, with instantly recognisable curves and the Corsa's trademark compact size. The Corsa B, as it was universally known, also gained critical acclaim, with Vauxhall Corsa sales rocketing upon its release. The Corsa C was unveiled in mid-2000, borrowing elements from the success of its immediate predecessor, with the Vauxhall's D model maintaining this trait when it arrived in 2006.

The Corsa is synonymous with affordability and style, with used Vauxhall Corsas being the car of choice for many newly qualified drivers. The vehicle has a long history within the car world, stretching nearly thirty years. Available in a range of engine sizes and with various optional extras, the Vauxhall Corsa is a universally adaptable car.
